Four steps from Japan to you
Importing usually takes around two to four months. You'll hear from your import manager at every stage, and nothing is bought until you say yes.
The steps
Find your car
We start with a consultation about the car, your budget and your timing. Then we search the weekly auctions and send you a private shortlist.
Review the auction sheet
Each car's auction sheet is translated and explained: its grade, its interior score, every mark the inspectors noted. If something doesn't add up, we'll say so.
Bid with guidance
You set the limit and we bid for you. We never go over it, and we'll tell you honestly when a car isn't worth chasing.
Ship, comply and deliver
We arrange insured shipping, Australian import approval, biosecurity checks and compliance, then hand the car over at your door.
Eligibility, import approval and compliance rules vary from car to car. We confirm a car can be imported before any bid is placed.
What the grade means
Japanese auction inspectors give every car an overall grade and an interior score from A to E. The 2021 E200 in our Collection, for example, is graded 4.5.
| Grade | Condition | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 5 and 6 | Near new | Very low kilometres, almost no marks |
| 4.5 | Excellent | Very clean, only tiny signs of use |
| 4 | Good | Light scratches or small dents |
| 3.5 | Average | Visible wear, may need touch-ups |
| 3 | Fair | Noticeable marks or repairs needed |
| R or RA | Repaired | Past accident repair, which we explain in full |
What buyers ask us
Can any Japanese car be imported?
No. Cars under 25 years old usually need to qualify under a government scheme such as the Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme. Older cars can usually come in under the rules for older vehicles. We check before you bid.
How long does it take?
Usually around two to four months. Shipping schedules, compliance work and inspections all affect timing, and you'll get an estimate before you commit.
Can I see the car before buying?
Auction cars can't be test driven, but you'll see the auction sheet, the auction photos and our notes before any bid.
What if we don't win the auction?
We keep searching. Good cars come up every week, and we'd rather wait for the right one than overpay.
What kinds of cars do you import?
Premium Japanese-market Toyotas, hybrids and JDM favourites, plus European cars sold in Japan, such as Mercedes-Benz.
